perfect recording of a great show
It's amazing that this show even happened at all. The band was playing in Denver, CO the night before with Dispatch, and then had to fly back to New York City the next day (this show was on a Friday night), and then actually drive from NYC to the Jersey shore at the beginning of the weekend during the summer season. (Makes you wonder who plans these things...) The band and crew showed up after the first band had already come on, they obviously couldn't do a soundcheck, and Pat's acoustic guitar wasn't even working when he went to play the first note of the first song. But once they got going, all problems were forgotten and they just played, right up until and past their curfew. They didn't do that many songs, and the show is just barely under two hours, so it's not one of their longest shows, but the energy here is just amazing. Out of all the summer 2002 recordings I have, this is the only one that I've listened to more than a couple times. The recording quality is amazing, definitely one of the best recordings I've heard this year. If you want a great high energy show with a mix of old and new, and some nice jams, check this out.
